A brief analysis of PEEK material
PEEK is a polymer material with both high toughness and rigidity. The macroscopic performance of the material includes high-temperature resistance, self-lubricating, chemical resistance, and high mechanical strength. Moreover, PEEK also has a higher melting point, it can be used in an environment of high temperature.
As a newly developed engineer plastic, its excellent properties are more advantageous than other normal plastics, especially in aerospace and other industries. PEEK materials have become the raw materials for many aircraft and automotive engine parts, also in medical industries.
Before we start the PEEK project, we must know some issues that will be happening in the manufacturing stage. For instance, the gate problem, due to its high melting point, we cannot apply a pointed gate inside the product, only the side gate is approval. So we should remove the residuals after mass production to make sure the surface is smooth.
