Factors to consider when matching injection molds and molding machines
Injection molds and molding machines are two of the imperative equipment in plastic product manufacturing, and their matching is crucial for product quality and production efficiency. When selecting an injection molding machine, the following factors should be considered:
1. Injection volume
The injection volume of the injection machine should be greater than or equal to the total injection volume of the mold. The total injection volume of the mold is the sum of the injection volume of all cavities, plus the volume of the runner. If the injection volume of the injection molding machine is insufficient, the product will not be filled, resulting in defects such as flash and short shots.
2. Clamping force
The clamping force of the injection machine should be greater than or equal to the clamping force required by the mold. If the clamping force of the injection machine is insufficient, the mold may open during the injection process, resulting in defects such as flash.
3. Opening stroke
The mold opening stroke of the injection machine should be larger than the mold opening stroke required by the mold. If the mold opening stroke of the injection machine is short, the product cannot be removed from the mold.
4. Injection speed and holding time
The injection speed and holding time of the injection machine should be selected according to the specific requirements of the mold and product. Injection speed is the speed at which the molten plastic is injected into the mold from the barrel. Holding time is the time that molten plastic is held at high pressure in the mold. If the injection speed or molted plastic is not selected properly, the product may have defects such as sink marks, and bubbles.
5. Exhaust system
The exhaust system of the injection machine should be able to promptly exhaust the air from the mold. Air in the mold can affect the product quality, causing defects such as bubbles and sink marks.
