Injection parts sticking in the mold, how to solve it well?
In the injection molding process, finished parts sticking in the mold can be an absolute headache, there are several reasons for causing parts sticking in the mold, and let me introduce the main reasons and solutions here:
1. The surface of the mold cavity is not smooth. If there are surface defects in the mold cavity and mold sprues, the plastic parts will easily stick to the mold in the molding process. We can improve the mold surface appearance to avoid this defect.
2. Insufficient mold rigidity. If the mold cannot be opened normally at the early stage of processing, it indicates that the mold rigidity is not enough to withstand the injection pressure and therefore causing parts to stick in the mold.
In the mold design stage, we should choose the suitable mold steel, and we can install a micrometer on the mold to check whether the mold core and mold base are working well. Also, we can control the deformation of the mold according to the data displayed on the micrometer.
3. The wrong design of the mold gating system. The operator can easily meet the parts sticking in the mold while the mold gate and sprue are too long or the design is not reasonable. Therefore, we can solve it by shortening the length of the sprue appropriately.
4. Ejection mechanism. When condition permits, try to increase the ejection area of the pin as much as big as possible to ensure sufficient ejection stroke and speed.
5. Mold exhaust system. In the mold design stage, the exhaust system should be set up reasonably to ensure that the mold exhaust system can work normally.
6. Temperature control. If it is difficult to demolding the parts at the parting surface, we can increase the mold temperature and shorten the cooling time to solve it. If it is difficult to demolding at the cavity surface, we should extend the cooling time and decrease the mold temperature to make sure that the parts won’t be sticking in the mold.
