The production process of PLA plastic mainly includes the following steps:

1. Fermentation of renewable resources such as corn starch to produce lactic acid.

2. Dehydration of lactic acid to produce lactide.

3. Polymerization of lactide to produce PLA.

PLA plastic has the following properties:

1. Biodegradability. PLA can be completely decomposed into carbon dioxide, water, and methane under the action of microorganisms, which is harmless to the environment.

2. Mechanical properties. PLA has good strength, hardness, and toughness, and can be used to make various products.

3. Processing properties: PLA can be processed into various shapes of products using traditional plastic methods like injection molding.

PLA plastic is mainly used in the following fields:

1. Food packaging. PLA plastic has good barrier properties and heat resistance and can be used to make food packaging bags, tableware, etc.

2. Medical devices. PLA plastic has good biocompatibility and can be used to make disposable medical devices.

3. Consumer goods. PLA plastic can be used to make toys, stationery, and household products, etc.
