An injection mold is a tool used to produce plastic products by injecting molten plastic into the cavity at high pressure through an injection molding machine. What are the features of injection mold manufacturing?
1. The design and processing of injection molds can be done off-site. The target of injection mold manufacturing is to get qualified plastic products, and the customer can choose where to do the manufacturing. It should be noted that overseas suppliers will have a delivery time because of the distance between the two parties.
2. Mold cavity and core processing. For mold suppliers, cavities and cores are the parts that directly affect the shape of the product and need to be processed in strict accordance with the set tolerance. Plastic material with a high shrinkage rate also needs to be considered
3. long processing cycle and procedures. The manufacturing of injection mold requires much different equipment, such as EDM, machining center, and grinding machines, which is why the lead time of injection molds is normally long.
4. Product quality and service life. In mold design, engineers need to consider the quality requirements and select the appropriate mold steel and mold design. Normally, the service life of injection mold can reach 100,000 shots.
