The selection of parting surface of die-casting products
The contact surface of the movable and fixed half of the die casting mold is usually called the parting surface. In general, a die-casting product has one parting surface, and for products with complex structures, there can be more than two parting surfaces.
According to the shape of the parting surface, it can be divided into four types: straight, inclined, stepped, and curved. Among them, the straight parting surface has a simple structure, it is the most widely used parting surface type.
When choosing the parting surface, many factors need to be considered, such as the appearance characteristics of the die-casting product, the gating system of the mold, and the demolding method of the mold. Common ways to determine the parting surface are:
When the mold separates, the die-casting product must remain in the movable half to facilitate product release.
The die casting parts that require high dimensional accuracy should be put aside as much as possible.
The setting of the parting surface should be conducive to the placement of the mold gating system and exhaust system.
The setting of the parting surface should simplify the mold structure as much as possible and reduce the difficulty of mold processing.
