What are the acceptance standards for injection molds?

After the completion of the injection mold, how can we do the inspection? Usually, we can evaluate the injection mold through the following aspects.

 

1.  Appearance

1.1. The mold nameplate should have complete content, accurate information, and place in a suitable position.

1.2. The mold water nozzle should not protrude from the mold base and should be marked with access direction.

1.3. Mold accessories should not affect the lifting of the mold. If there are structures such as water nozzles and oil cylinders, they should be protected by supporting legs.

1.4. The size of the mold should meet the requirements of the designated injection molding machine.

1.5. The surface of the mold base should not have rust, pits, and other defects.

 

1. Raw material and hardness

1.1. The mold base should be a standard mold base that meets the requirements of clients.

1.2. The material of mold forming parts and gating system should be the material with hardness higher than 40CR.

 

2. Ejection system

2.1. The ejection system of the mold should be smooth and mo abnormal noise.

2.2. The return spring should be standard.

2.3. Each ejector pin in the mold should be numbered.

2.4. There should be no gap in the positioning pin installation.

2.5. An exhaust should be installed at the bottom of the guide sleeve.

 

3. Cooling and heating system

3.1. The cooling or heating system should be adequate.

3.2. The size and shape of the sealing groove opened on the mold base should meet the relevant standards.

3.3. Apply grease oil on the sealing ring.

3.4. The water and oil flow channel should be made of corrosion-resistance materials.

 

4. Gating system

4.1. The position of the mold gate should not affect the appearance of the product.

4.2. The gates and runners should be processed with the size requirements of the drawings, and grinding machines are not allowed.

4.3. The gate of the point gate should be set with specifications.

4.4. The runner on the parting surface should be round

4.5. The diameter and depth of the cold cave on the transparent product mold should meet the design standards.

 

1. Hot runner system

1.1. The wiring layout of the hot runner should be reasonable to facilitate the maintenance.

1.2. The hot runner should be tested for safety.

1.3. The standard accessories should be used for the temperature control box and hot nozzle.

1.4. Each group of heating elements should be controlled by thermocouples.

1.5. All connections in the hot runner system should be correct and have good insulation performance.

 

2. Injection processing

2.1. The mold should have high stability under normal injection molding conditions.

2.2. The injection pressure during injection molding should be less than 85% of the maximum rated injection pressure of the injection molding machine.

2.3. For mold with inserts, the inserts should be easily installed and fixed reliably in the production.

 

3. Packing and shipping

3.1. The mold cavity should be cleaned and sprayed with anti-rust oil.

3.2. The sliding part on the mold should be greased.

3.3. The mold should be equipped with a clamping part, and the specifications should meet the design requirements.

3.4. The injection mold should be packaged in moisture-proof, waterproof material.

3.5. The mold product drawings, structural drawings, hot runner drawings, operating instructions, certifications, and other documents should be provided.
