What are the main factors affecting the mold structure?
The shape of the plastic product is the main factor that determines the size of the mold and the cavity, and the shape of the product also determines which structure the mold should adopt to meet production efficiency. The common factors are as following:
1. Cavity layout. The number of cavities and the arrangement method are determined by the geometric structure characteristics of the plastic parts, dimensional accuracy requirements, batch size, mold size, etc.
2. The parting surface. The position of the parting surface should be conducive to mold manufacturing, exhausting, demolding, as well as the surface quality of injection products.
3. Determine the gating system(the shape, position, and size of the runner and the gate) and the exhaust system(the method of exhaust, the position of the exhaust slot, and the size, etc.).
4. The ejection method(ejector, push plate, combined ejection method), and determine the mold core pulling method.
5. Determine the cooling and heating methods, the shape and location of the heating and cooling groove, and the installation location of the heating element.
6. Determine the thickness, overall dimensions, and structure of the mold parts, as well as the positions of all connections, positioning, and guides by the mold material, strength calculation, or actual experiences.
