What are the surface treatments of TPE molds?
As a thermoplastic material, TPE is widely used in automotive overmold part and sports equipment. TPE has the strength and elasticity as rubber material in terms of properties and can be processed by injection molding at the same time. What are the surface treatments of TPE material as a commonly used material?
1. Texture
The texture is processed by etching the surface of the mold cavity with chemical liquid. There are plenties types of textures which are available for choose according to the requirements.
2. Shot blast
The shot blast process refers to spraying quartz sand on the surface of the mold by air pressure equipment, thereby forming a layer of frosted surface on the mold. During the injection molding, the surface of the product will acquire a sand effect.
3. EDM marks
EDM marks refers to the texture left on the mold cavity after EDM. However, the actual effect of the EDM marks needs to be confirmed by the customer.
The above three methods are the three common processing technologies for TPE molds, and for 40A TPE material, attentions should be paid on the product demolding.
