What is mold life? How to calculate mold life?
Mold life, literally understood, refers to the total number of products that can be produced by the injection mold in the normal condition, and it is a comprehensive reflection of mold material performance, mold design level, heat treatment, injection molding, and maintenance level within a certain period.
There are three basic definitions of mold life, they are:
Mode life: the total number of qualified products produced before the mold broken.
First mold life: the total number of qualified products produced by the mold before the first mold maintenance.
After-maintenance mold life: the total number of qualified products produced by the mold between the first maintenance to the second maintenance.
The actual mold life is the sum of the first life and the after-maintenance life.
In the project, many factors that affect the performance of the mold, and influence the mold life, including mold design, raw materials, processing, molding, and maintenance, etc. Generally, before we start the project, we can give our customers reasonable suggestions on mold life by their actual output anticipated, and choose appropriate mold materials and processing technologies to meet their basic requirements of the mold.
