Mirror polishing is an essential technology in the manufacturing process of injection molds, and oilstone, sandpaper is the key tool to polish the mold cavity to make the surface like a mirror. Mirror polishing is for the product with the special surface requirement, and it can greatly improve the quality of the product.
They are four grades of mirror polishing:
A0=Ra0.008μm
A1=Ra0.016μm
A2=Ra0.032μm
A3=Ra0.063μm
The main steps for mirror polishing:
For mirror polishing, in the beginning, we need to use coarser oilstone, sandpaper, or polishing paste to polish the surface roughly then use finer oilstone, sandpaper, and finally use polishing paste that matches the polishing grades of the product for final polishing. This method needs to polishing the cavity surface several times to meet the required level, while efficiency is low. At present, we can use the ultrasonic polishing machine to do the mirror polishing, it helps us to short the polishing cycle.
