What should be done before injection molding?
Injection molding is a process of forming molten material into plastic parts of a specific shape. To ensure the quality of injection molding, adequate preparations should be conducted before molding. So, what are the preparatory works?
1. Mold maintenance
Before the injection molding process, the mold surface, and cavity should be cleaned. The main purpose is to clean the anti-rust oil and particles to avoid bringing quality problems to the plastic parts.
For molds with special surface treatment, it is not allowed to use gloves, or cotton cloths to widen the mold surface, an air gun is the best option for cleaning.
Professionals should be the only persons who can be dismantling the molds to avoid safety issues.
2. Cooling system and temperature control system
Before the molding process, the mold cooling system and temperature control system are configured so that the mold temperature is in an ideal range.
3. Hot runner system
For molds with a hot runner system, the hot runner system should be ignited and preheated for 30 minutes before processing to make the hot runner system reach the set temperature range.
For new operators, they must strictly follow the instruction for the molding process. If damage is happened to the mold by misuse, it will inevitably lead to the postponement of the project.
