Drying temperature of PC+ABS plastic material
PC + ABS plastic is an alloy plastic that combines the advantages of polycarbonate (PC) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS). The drying temperature is usually between 80 - 100 °C.
Factors affecting the drying temperature:
Material ratio: Different ratios of PC and ABS will result in different drying temperatures. Generally, a higher PC content allows for a slightly higher drying temperature, while a higher ABS content may necessitate a somewhat lower temperature.
Supplier Recommendations: For PC+ABS materials provided by different material suppliers, the recommended drying temperature and time may be different.
Environmental humidity: When the environmental humidity is high, the drying temperature and time must be appropriately increased.
Product thickness and complexity: The thicker the product and the more complex the structure, the higher the requirement for melt fluidity, and the drying temperature can be appropriately increased.
Purpose of Drying:
Moisture Removal: PC+ABS materials are hygroscopic, meaning they can absorb environmental moisture. Excess moisture can lead to the formation of voids and bubbles during the injection molding process, impairing part quality.
Improved Flowability: Drying enhances the melt flowability of the material, facilitating mold filling and reducing the occurrence of shrinkage and warpage.
How to Determine the Optimal Drying Temperature:
