Injection Mold Data Plate
In the manufacturing and operational lifecycle of injection molds, the data plate (Data Plate) acts as the mold’s "ID card," documenting essential technical parameters, management data, and safety warnings. Its design must adhere to industry standards while integrating seamlessly with mold management systems, serving as the central hub for traceability, maintenance, and optimization. This article systematically elaborates on the technical requirements and design principles of injection mold data plates from an engineering perspective.
I. Core Functional Roles of Data Plates
Technical Archive Carrier
Records basic data: mold number, cavity count, material, weight, etc.
Specifies process parameters: maximum clamping force, compatible machines, hot runner voltage, etc.
Traceability Management Basis
Links to maintenance records and lifecycle data via QR codes/RFID tags.
Documents quality traceability information: steel batch numbers, heat treatment processes, etc.
Safety Warning Identifier
Displays safety parameters: mold lifting direction, and maximum allowable injection pressure.
Warns of hazardous areas: high-temperature zones, hydraulic oil circuits, etc.
II. Design Requirements and Technical Specifications
Material Selection
Base Material: Stainless Steel 304 (thickness 1.5–2 mm) or anodized aluminum plate AlMg3 (thickness 3 mm).
Temperature Resistance: Long-term endurance at 150°C (250°C for hot runner molds).
Corrosion Resistance: Passes 48-hour salt spray test (ASTM B117 standard).
Installation Location Standards
Primary Data Plate: Fixed on the TOP side of the mold, 100 mm to the right of the centerline.
Secondary Data Plate: Installed 50 mm below the parting surface on the operator's side.
Safety Clearance: Maintain ≥30 mm distance from moving components (e.g., sliders, lifters).
