Injection Mold Manufacturing Process
The standard injection mold development process consists of 7 major stages, and it takes an average of 45-60 days from design to mass production.
1. Product Analysis (3-5 days)
Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturability) verification
Determine parting lines and draft angles (typically ≥1°)
Perform Moldflow simulation to optimize gate locations
2. Mold Design (7-10 days)
Mold base selection (standard mold base)
Cavity layout
Design cooling channels (following 3D conformal principles)
3. Precision Machining (15-20 days)
Cavity machining: CNC roughing (leaving 0.3mm allowance) / EDM finishing
Key components: Ejector pinhole tolerance controlled to H7 grade
Surface treatment: Mirror polishing to VDI18 standard
4. Mold Testing and Validation (5-7 days)
Initial trial (T0): Check basic molding results
Engineering adjustments: Optimize packing time (typically 0.5-5s) and cooling time (accounting for 30-60% of the cycle)
