What Are the Positioning and Limiting Components in Injection Mold Processing?

26-02-2025

In injection mold processing, positioning and limiting components are critical for ensuring precise mold alignment, stable operation, and high-quality product manufacturing.

Positioning Components

The primary function of positioning components is to ensure that the moving mold and fixed mold align accurately during clamping. Common positioning components include:

1. Positioning Ring

Used to align the mold with the injection molding machine, ensuring that the mold is correctly positioned with the machine nozzle.

2. Guide Pins and Guide Bushings

Guide pins are typically installed on the moving mold plate, while guide bushings are fixed on the stationary mold plate. Together, they ensure precise alignment between the moving and stationary molds.

3. Positioning Blocks or Positioning Wedges

Designed for precise alignment of specific mold sections, especially for lateral core-pulling mechanisms or sliders.

4. Parting Surface Positioning Structures

Positioning pins or positioning grooves are commonly used on the parting surface to ensure tight and accurate alignment of the mold’s parting lines during clamping.

Limiting Components

The main purpose of limiting components is to control the movement range of the mold, preventing excessive motion that could cause faults or damage. Common limiting components include:

1. Stop Pins (Tie Bars)

Control the opening stroke of the moving mold plate to prevent it from overextending or separating from the guiding structure.

2. Limit Blocks or Limit Screws

Installed externally or at specific positions in the mold to restrict the movement range of certain parts, such as sliders or core-pulling mechanisms.

3. Reset Rods (Ejector Limit)

Prevent ejector rods from overextending or operating inaccurately.

4. Slider Limiting Devices

Include slider limit screws, limit blocks, etc., ensuring accurate positioning of sliders during clamping and opening.

5. Anti-Retreat Mechanisms

It is commonly used for sliders or other moving components to prevent unintentional movement when not in operation.
